Red Bull DJ Scenic Cruiser
This was one of the most intense Red Bull things I have shot! 9 hours of on the go shooting! It was a challenge. I had an awesome time though! Red Bull took the 3style DJ's on a tour of the major bars of Cinci. It was rather crazy! Here are some of the images from the event
I thought this image really showed how "ICE COLD", Ice Cold Tony is.

These two people that keep giving me these red bull gigs. without them I would be red bulless, hah! Thanks sean and aaron!
Red Bull 3Style Shoot
A couple weeks ago, I drove over to Cincinnati to photograph the DJ's for the Red Bull 3Style event. This was my first ever editorial shoot with Red Bull and ever...in my photographic career. I was really nervous and excited at the same time. I had to work in conjunction with a video production team which was also a first. Check out Chad's videos here http://www.vimeo.com/user1472548. He's made some really cool videos.
The client (Red Bull) wanted simple portraits that reflected each DJ's image and personality against white seamless so they could add graphics later on if they would like.
There were many obstacles that arose during the shoot. First one was that I was working with speedlights. In a studio setting it's ok, but I wish I had monolights. I was able to borrow an alienbee 1600 as my main light which was a lifesaver. Thanks Frank! (check out his site at: http://www.tuttleimages.com/). I used a basic off left octabank with hair light while trying to blow out the background. I quickly ran out of batteries so the cycle was low. I was not prepared to go bang bang shooting with speedlights with 8 models which brings up a second problem. Therefore the background wasn't pure white which made my post processing a pain.
We started late and I didn't have much time with each model, about 5-10 minutes, so it was really difficult trying to get their personality in the images. Another problem I had was the group shot. I had to shoot wide with the group pictures because the shooting space was not that large. Therefore there was distortion in the group shot. Anyways, here are the images from the shoot. And the last thing is that I wish I had an assistant. Doing the setup/shoot/teardown by myself was very difficult. Overall, I think I did ok.

DJ Easy Jake Oven (revisit)
I never got to post these pictures to the blog, so I thought I would revisit it. I did this shoot for a friend of mine Jake. He's a dj that I have become good friends with. He hooked me up with my red bull job. I've photographed him informally countless times at bento. Anyways, here's some of my favorite shots of him.
taken with older camera, canon rebel xti i believe.
also taken with the rebel xti, the noise was terrible on it. can you see the red speckles?

These next sequence of images were taken for Jake when he dj'ed a event for clinique called fresh faces. He stood in the cold all day and DJed.
